J-POWER Takehara Thermal Power Station
J-POWER EnTech, Inc. is a subsidiary wholly owned by J-POWER. Since 1970's J-POWER had developed the dry DeSOx/DeNOx system using activated coke through pilot demonstrations in their facilities.

In J-POWER's thermal power stations, Takehara #2 is the first to adopt this technology commercially in 1995.

In 2005, J-POWER established an engineering company, J-POWER EnTech, and acquired the dry DeSOx/DeNOx business of Mitsui Mining Co. (current Nippon Coke & Engineering Co., LTD) which had a proven track record in the field. J-POWER EnTech, which designs, builds and maintains ReACT (Regenerative Activated Coke Technology) facility by leveraging both the proven technology and profound experiences in power plant O&M from J-POWER's long-term electrical supply services.

J-POWER and Mitsui Mining Co. also established a joint venture, JM Activated Coke Inc., for the purpose of stable supply of Activated Coke used for ReACT.

For the further development of the technology, a pilot plant was demonstrated in both Isogo (in 2005) and North Valmy POWER Station (NV Energy) in the US in collaboration with EPRI (in 2007) to verify the performance of ReACT in various conditions. Successful results have been incorporated into the current design of ReACT.

In 2009, J-POWER EnTech successfully completed two commercial projects (Isogo #2 and a sintering plant) and has solidified their position in the market in Japan.

For the global market, J-POWER EnTech entered into a technical alliance with Hamon Research-Cottrell, Inc. (USA) to supply ReACT to meet the customers' needs in North Amereica.
